Hong Kong | “Resound, Asian Innovators: A Manifesto” Successfully Held

On May 16, 2024, Resound, Asian Innovators: A Manifesto opened at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. As the largest comprehensive art section of the 2nd Art Hong Kong Expo, the exhibition featured over 100 contemporary artworks by more than 50 artists from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, and South Korea.

The works on view spanned sculpture, painting, light installations, and digital media, offering a dynamic showcase of contemporary artistic expression. This diversity marked a confident step forward in advancing Asian cultural identity and fostering dialogue in the global art world.

With a focus on amplifying the artist’s voice and encouraging boundary-breaking exploration, the exhibition centered around the theme of the “Asian Innovators Manifesto.” The title “Resound” evokes not just echoes of sound, but the resonance of artistic response—artists calling out to the world, and the world answering back. Art, as an ancient and subtle language, crosses borders of race, politics, language, and culture. It narrows the distance between creators from different backgrounds and brings audiences into direct emotional connection.

Looking ahead, the Asian Academy of Arts will continue its mission to build a rigorous, interdisciplinary platform for academic and artistic exchange. Through ongoing programs in major cultural capitals around the world, it will showcase the evolving languages of art as they unfold on the global stage—offering contemporary Asian art as a vital bridge in international dialogue.

The exhibition departed from conventional wall labels and text descriptions, allowing artworks to speak for themselves. This approach gave space for raw emotional communication, encouraged open-ended interpretation, and invited each viewer to discover their own resonance with the work. It celebrated artistic diversity across cultural contexts, while reflecting the transformative force of contemporary art and its ability to shape deeper cultural awareness and imagination.
