Hong Kong | A Manifesto Art Charity Gala Grandly Held

On May 30, 2025, A Manifesto Art Charity Gala—a convergence of global artistic and philanthropic forces—was ceremoniously held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, marking the opening night of the 3rd Art Hong Kong Expo. 200 specially invited guests from around the world, including artists, foundation leaders, entrepreneurs, scholars, collectors, and cultural figures, gathered for a vibrant celebration of art, generosity, and the spirit of our times.

A Manifesto is an international art initiative founded by Tingting Fang, President of the Asian Academy of Arts. More than just an exhibition, it is a cultural movement within the contemporary art world—committed to amplifying the voices of underrepresented Asian creators, emerging talents, and cross-disciplinary innovators. Since its debut at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris in 2023, A Manifesto has gained global resonance for its core values of “anti-centrality,” “anti-perfection,” and “anti-label.” This gala marked the first charitable gala event under the A Manifesto banner and extended the project's values into the public realm. As Fang expressed, A Manifesto believes art should not be confined to gallery walls but must grow within real social relationships—as a bridge between creators and the public, between ideals and reality.

The gala was co-hosted by the Asian Academy of Arts, the Organizing Committee of the Art Hong Kong Expo, and the Shenzhen Digital Creative Industry Association, with support from the Asian Culture and Arts Foundation and the Asian International Foundation. As part of the A Manifesto program, the evening continued the initiative’s mission of honoring artistic imagination, while exploring the pulse and potential of contemporary art through an expanded lens.

The evening opened with a formal announcement by bilingual host Wanying Jiang: “The A Manifesto Art Charity Gala officially begins.” As music filled the venue, the ceremony began in an atmosphere of elegance and anticipation.

During the opening remarks, three keynote guests delivered heartfelt addresses. Mr. Qubing Pi, Executive Chairman of the Expo’s Committee, extended a warm welcome to all international attendees. Mr. Tianfu Liang, Chairman of the Committee, followed with a speech on the role of art in advancing public good. Lastly, Tingting Fang shared her vision behind A Manifesto, stating:"From the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris to today, A Manifesto has become a growing declaration about visibility. From the start, it was never just an exhibition—it was an action, a response to silence. We have seen marginalized creators, overlooked geniuses, and those who keep making art despite life’s trials. Tonight, we gather to make this visibility real—to turn a platform into a ladder, to ensure resources are no longer reserved for the few, and to share opportunities widely. Art is not only about presentation—it is a way of redistributing attention, respect, and hope."

The cultural program began with a stunning fusion of classical and contemporary Asian art. A fashion show featuring Xiangyunsha, a traditional Chinese silk technique, was followed by a Guqin performance of “Flowing Water” by master luthier and Guangdong Lingnan school heritage bearer, Wang Kexun.

During the awards segment, Tingting Fang presented the Asian Emerging Artist List Finalist Medals to the following artists: Tianxing Zhou, Chengkai Xu, Xinyue Yao, Xiaolu Chen, Peishan Jiang, Xin Na, Zhihui Sun, Yuwei Zheng, Fengqi Liu, Linnna Linn, Sonia Shishang, Fang Cui, Yuting Yang, Yijun Yao, Renwei Hu, San Pin, Leyao Lu, Chenyi Sun, Xiaoxian Huang, Kunlun Ran, Ziran Luo.

Mr. Jie Guo, Chairman of the Asian International Philanthropy Network and Vice President of the China Cultural Promotion Society, awarded the Philanthropic Artist Medals to artists who generously donated works:

Lu Leyao, Jiang Peishan, Yao Yijun, Luo Ziran, Ran Kunlun, Linnna Linn

The highlight of the evening was the charity auction, hosted by renowned auctioneer Ling Feng, the first Chinese auctioneer licensed by a foreign auction house. With a resonant strike of the gavel, the room was energized by the mingling of artistic brilliance and humanitarian intent. Guests actively raised paddles, generating an atmosphere of spirited elegance.

The auction featured works from 17 artists selected through the Asian Emerging Artist List. Pieces ranged from paintings and photography to installations and mixed media. Jiang Peishan’s “Budding”, part of her Lotus Seed Pod series, became a focal point for its metaphorical portrayal of resilience and rebirth in adversity—eventually selling for RMB 70,000. Luo Ziran’s “π” sparked vibrant discussion for its blend of Eastern philosophy and digital language. Lexkon Liu’s urban works “Golden Silence” and “Autumn Glory” drew five rounds of competitive bidding, closing at three times the estimated price.

In total, 15 artworks were successfully auctioned. All proceeds will be dedicated to advancing the Asian Emerging Artist List—supporting its long-term development, building a global recommendation network, expanding Asian artists’ presence in international markets, and launching a global touring exhibition of emerging Asian art. The initiative aims to build a sustainable, globally resonant ecosystem for new-generation creators.

On this night, art was not only seen—it was ignited.
